the year to come...
hello friends! 🌻
i am really looking forward to various music happenings in the time to come (both as a listener and maker!). it is particularly nice to have projects lined up that involve working/creating/sharing alongside friends…and you, the listeners !
with all of the pending music making, learning, thinking… I’m hoping to write and share more about it via this blog.
the little bopping image above gives a glimpse of some of the highlights… to be revealed along the way…
in the meantime, march is here and i’m looking forward to ‘popcorn convection’ getting another whirl (originally commissioned and performed by Petrichor Sax in 2015) at Women of Noise’s annual International Women’s Day Concert. I really wish I could be in Brissy to hear it along with music by awesome humans eg) Hilary Kleinig & Alice Chance…though am looking forward to listening along on the livestream. with thanks to Phoebe Bognár, Courtney Lovell and others for putting together such a mega cool event that truly showcases such a variety of music and makers of music ! i am thankful to have some music a part of it !
in a few weeks time…friends and previous collaborators Naomi Johnson, Lamorna Nightingale and Jessica Scott will be fluting some music I’ve composed for Clearway - Voices of Women live. each performance presents ten different short stories written by Australian women, performed in live readings by powerful theatrical and improvisation actors. I’ve loved reading through the stories - drawing on words, structures, titles, phrases, impressions to compose music that will weave in between performances. for some of the shows, I’m looking forward to sitting behind the piano and activating an installation that incorporates recordings of my friends humming I’ve collected over the past month or so. It’s fantastic to be working with the director and creator of the project Llianne Clarke and I feel very fortunate to be contributing to a project that involves a variety of voices and artists. tickets and more details available here ! :)

Admission to IWD concert is FREE. Women of Noise will be collecting donations for the Firesticks Alliance Indigenous Corporation at the door.
Clearway will be set against a backdrop of sculptural forms by Rox De Luca, that draw attention to the serious global issue of plastic waste.
Score excerpt from music I’ve composed for Clearway - Voices of Women. Naomi’s monologue ‘Rocket’ for solo piccolo.
on the music show...
Had a quick chat with Andrew Ford on "The Music Show" alongside Damien Ricketson and Jonathan Jones about "barrangal dyara", nestled in the kangaroo grass of the Botanic Gardens.
